Hello December…

It makes me think of you. It makes me think of those days in that little farmhouse. That roaring warm fire in that old wood stove. Those cheery yellow curtains that hid the sadness. The smell of a fresh cut Christmas tree mixed with brewed coffee and cigarette smoke. Those red Christmas balls. The way you made sure to make it magic no matter what was going on in real life.

Things I’ll remember for the rest of my life. I close my eyes and they are there, you’re there. We’re all there. In that house. Time forever frozen in my mind.

  1. Wow we all have our memories of days gone by and wishing we could turn back the clock for just a little bit. My childhood memories in England Christmas Eve going downtown with my Dad to see the city square tree lit up. Christmas morning are that of a pillowcase at the foot of my bed being filled with toys from Father Christmas, going to my Nanas later that day with the smell of the goose cooking. We never had a tree but I can still see the crepe paper decorations stringing from each corner of the living room to reach the center with a bell hanging… So simple compared to today’s decorations! Oh for just ‘five more minutes’ …. xo
