Thankful Thursday Week 7/52

Okay I don’t think I’ve taken a breath since last Thursday! Jacob’s party was amazing! He was surrounded by friends and family all weekend and it was delightful. He got dinner with his Grandma & Poppa Friday night and then dinner and a swim with his Poppa on Tuesday evening!

We started the house renovations this week! Entrance way is empty and the ceiling is painted! We ordered the new kitchen cabinets, countertops and beautiful farmhouse sink! I’m so excited!

So tonight I’m thankful for new beginnings and fresh starts! It’s so easy to become stuck with the same old situations and surroundings but renovating has reminded me that if you’re willing to do a bit of hard work things really do change!

Thankful Thursday Week 6/52

How are we 6 weeks into 2020? How did Jacob turn 5 this week?!? How is it Thursday again?!!

The last week has been super busy for us. We bought a brand new truck, officially started home renovations and celebrated Jacob’s birthday!

I really can’t wrap my head around the fact he is already five!

This week I am thankful for the opportunity to share his birthday with friends and family!! We’ve got a whole Curious George themed party ready to go!!!

Thankful Thursday Week 5/52

Happy almost a Friday friends! I’ve had a busy week so far and I don’t see it slowing down anytime soon!!

Despite being busy I managed to get a delicious meal of potato & corn chowder with homemade beer bread on the table for dinner tonight! Even Kevin enjoyed it and he is not a soup guy!!!

How is everyone handling the week so far? Tired? Me too! The rain isn’t helping! Spring is coming though! Right? Right??

So this week I’m thankful to be able to see the rainbows in the storm! Im not good at it 100% of the time, I’m still learning to remind myself to not think the worst all the time. But I’m learning!

Thankful Thursday Week 4/52

I don’t have much to say tonight because I’m not ready to go into all the details but I will say that today I’m extremely grateful that Kevin’s check in with his surgeon yesterday confirmed that his healing is coming along very well. I’m also extremely thankful that the settlement has been agreed upon and we can move forward with our lives. ❤️

Thankful Thursday Week 3/52

My Thankful thoughts tonight are simple. I’m Thankful my little family is all together under the same roof, warm, safe.

The weather the last few days is usually the type of weather that is panic inducing and stressful for me. As a nurse taking a snow day is often met with employer pushback and irritation. I mean I totally understand why, any healthcare role is a vital role but this week because I’m off work it was pleasant and easy. I know that I’m extremely fortunate to be laying in a warm bed with my child snuggled up to one side and my dog snuggled up to the other. While the faint sounds of the tv down the hall sneak in from whatever show my husband is watching as he enjoys some peaceful quiet time to himself.

With the recognition and realization of how lucky we are I’ve also thought a lot about what it would be like to be out there in this weather with no place to go. The only word I can come up with is terrifying. Terrifying and cold.

Over the holidays there was so many opportunities to giveback, to donate, lend a hand. Now that many of us are settled back in to the day to day of mid January it’s easy to overlook those fundraisers or food drives. So tonight I’m asking you to join us and take a few minutes this weekend and take a peek through your closets or storage, find those winter jackets, boots, unneeded blankets and drop them off at your local shelter. This winter is far from over and you never know, you might be saving a life. ❤️

Thankful Thursday – Week 2/52

Happy Thursday friends!! How’s everyone holding up through the first full week of 2020? We’re doing ok! It’s a bit of a hurry up and wait week for us as we edge our way towards Friday and a very important meeting! More about that in a week or so.

We are slowly falling back into a schedule now that Christmas is over. We’ve started back to the gym and Jacob’s next set of swimming lessons has started. It’s nice to have a bit of routine back. I mean we still lack serious routine because I’m not back to work but still more then we had in December.

So another Thursday which means Thankful Thursday! This week I’m grateful for the little moments I get to share with Jacob.

This child is 55 pounds of cuddle monster! He incredibly sensitive and instinctively seems to know when someone needs a bit of love.

Yesterday he and I had a little lunch date at the mall before his swimming lessons and he was so happy to just chat and chat! He always makes me laugh. We also checked out the new City LEGO at Toys R Us and of course he picked out his favourites.

He is my why. He is my little king. He makes me a better person and because of him I hold it all together even when I think I can’t. ❤️

Thankful Thursday Week 1/52

The first thankful Thursday of 2020! I’ve been thinking all day what I wanted to share tonight as my Thankful Thursday topic.

Practicing gratitude is definitely something I try to do daily and especially when I’m feeling off. Spoiler alert, I’m feeling very off today!

So today I’m thankful for quiet, rainy afternoon runs to Starbucks! I know that may sound frivolous and spoiled but sometimes it’s nice to take a few minutes out of the day to reset and quiet my brain!

What are you thankful for today?

Consoled a cup of coffee but it didn’t want to talk…

2020 …. How did that happen? Wasn’t it just 2010? Didn’t I just start nursing? Get married? Become a mother? How did 10? 20? Years go by so fast?

I’ve got very little advice to offer at this point other then to be weary of people in the darkness who hold flashlights. Not everyone drawing you towards them wants to help you.

Thankful Thursday ~ December 12

I know I missed thankful Thursday last week! To be honest with you it took me a long time to figure out why. Then I remembered last Thursday Kevin and I got a start on our Christmas shopping! Then we took a few hours Friday and finished the shopping. We were a very efficient shopping team!

Yesterday we went out to Aldor acres and went tree hunting! I love Aldor Acres farm! Not only did we get the perfect little tree again this year we got to see all the adorable farm animals including day old baby goats and 6 week old kittens!! I didn’t want to leave! If you ever find yourself in Fort Langley check out the farm! It’s an amazing family run farm that has a huge pumpkins patch in the fall and u cut tree lot for that perfect christmas tree! It is also a working dairy farm! Lots to see and learn.

So back to what I am thankful for! Tonight I wrapped all the christmas gifts. I am thankful that this year christmas has zero stress attached to it for us. The tree is up, gifts are bought and wrapped, lights are up, the personalized advent calendar for Kevin has been a huge hit so far! It’s nice to know we can just sit back and enjoy the season.

We are going to make a trip to the local animal shelter and hopefully OWL this coming week to drop of a donation of supplies. Most shelters have their need listed on their website.

We are also going to pick up a couple toys and some groceries for our local food and toy bank. I am extremely thankful that we are able to do these things to help our community. It may not be much but every little bit helps.

Thankful Thursday ~ November 28

I spent yesterday cooking up a turkey feast for my family. We decided to celebrate American Thanksgiving and by the time everyone left I was exhausted! Content but exhausted. I planted myself on the couch, sipped a vodka and cranberry in a fancy glass and promptly fell asleep!

As many of you know our family has been dealt a rather tough hand in the autoimmune department. My brother has a swiftly progressive form of Multiple sclerosis and I have my ever annoying bout of Lupus. We take life one day at a time and do what we can when we can! I for one am a firm believer that its not the hand life deals you that matters it’s how you play it!

Yesterday when the mail arrived my brother handed me a card. I ripped it open and upon reading it my eyes instantly filled with tears. Back in the spring a large group of us formed a team for our local MS walk. We did amazing in the fundraising department thanks to all our generous friends, family, coworkers and even strangers. I was shocked how much we raised as a team! The card I received yesterday was a thank you card. It was from a local girl who received a new wheelchair from the MS society thanks in large part to our fundraising efforts.

Of course I knew our donations and efforts were for a great cause but receiving that card really drove it home for me.

This thankful Thursday found me being acutely aware of how much something I did made someone else so thankful. I am not really sure how to verbalize my feelings on this. I am thankful our efforts made such a difference in someone’s life. I am thankful I was able to do something like that for someone else. I am thankful for all those who donated and fundraised. I am thankful that despite these auto immune issues that change my brother and I’s daily lives we still bonded together to try to help others.

I look around my house, my life and realize I am extremely blessed. There is very little I do without. I am spoiled. I have more then I need. I know this, I acknowledge it and I am thankful for what I have. My life is full of little things that bring me comfort and make me happy. Things many people can’t afford. My home is warm and cozy, my clothes are warm and cozy. My heart is full of love for and from those around me. I am thankful that I am blessed enough to be able to help others.
